one example...

I am happy to tell you that I am banned for responding to inquiries about how people could reach ####. I would go on that forum to save my life. My opinion of Alex is pretty low. #### and I have been working for the horses for about 8 years and this bit of dribble comes along and because he can run a web site everyone follows after him and thinks he's glorious. NO he is not. It is important to network with people and he offered a tool, it was abused by someone who he allows to stay while he threw out valuable and dedicated workers. I have no respect for him and am shocked that so many people stayed in his forum when we offered an alternative.

I have a little Yahoo group that is public http://tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Buck_Horse_Slaughter/ and anti slaughter and it existed before Alex Brown ever knew or did anything about horse slaughter and he's been in the racing business for many years, a big contributor to the slaughterhouse and part of the problem. The French love to eat their muscular Thoroughbreds.

Alex has offended me for the last time and I never go where I am not welcomed. As much as I respect Barbaro and am saddened by his loss, my priority has always been the slaughter of all equines and not any particular animal. I truly appreciate all the support from FOBs and consider myself a friend of Barbaro rather than a fan and I also appreciate all that the Jacksons have done to help stand against horse slaughter. Ferdinand and Exceller are 2 racehorses that were slaughtered for food.

How many people knew about slaughter before Barbaro, yet felt helpless as individuals? MANY! Let's face it, it's a HUGE undertaking to try and get Congress (or anyone else) to listen to just you and a couple of mates talk about the ASPA, right? The point of an online community dedicated to it's causes like anti-slaughter, equine research and development, improving the racing industry as a whole by focusing on the safeness and well-being of the horse, is to join together and create a useful forum to encourage AWARENESS, share knowledge, and hopefully build lasting connections for future positive outcomes, both animal wise and human wise! If you feel like some rescues are trying to dupe you on a particular thread, by-pass it, or do your own investigating and research. Last time I checked, we do still have telephones?! The bottom line is this: Has slaughter been around longer than your forum? Yes. Is it difficult to manage a community filled with names like "horseymommy" or "paintedpony" without being able to put a face to them? Sure! Is it better to try and create a positive change for the goodness of every animal/human involved on your site. Absolutely! So when people have a word about you, so be it, at least your not sitting at home with your thumb up your a#s, waiting for the rest of world to make the necessary changes on your behalf, that are so desperately needed in today's society. Nobody's perfect, but finding the path that's perfect for you is the challenge! There's always the "power off" button on your computer if you need a bit of a break...:) Good luck!

What? Because Alex works as an exercise rider, that means he inadvertently contributed to horse slaughter?

Ya, because you don't contribute to the depletion of the ozone layer each day you drive your vehicle!

Gimme a break!

by the way: It's not about Alex being an exercise rider that's contributing to the kill pens being full, it's more about being a responsible breeder!

Ya, I agree with the overbreeding, Alex exercises what's put in front of him. If their was a more limited supply of racehorses to be worked, there'd be fewer exercise riders employed, which could turn his "many years" of experience into a high paying profession. Nowadays, it seems like any Joe Blow could go out there and exercise these horses, without having a "whip" of knowledge about it. Why doesn't "experience" equate to something? I think the standards should be set higher in order to obtain the required licensing to exercise horses, leaving the people with a tonne of it, as the ones who are most sought after....thereby decreasing the amount of racehorses that could be worked due to lack of experienced exercise riders.....just my opinion
